Against all odds

      Si può sperare di vincere, contro tutto e contro tutti, quando tutti i pronostici sono sfavorevoli, quando parti sconfitto in partenza? Io penso di sì, l'ho sempre pensato, e ho orientato tutta la mia vita in questo senso. Sarà forse per questo motivo che Against all odds, film di Taylor Hackford del 1984, mi piacque fin dal suo arrivo in Italia, con il titolo di Due vite in gioco. Interpretato da ottimi attori come Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward e James Woods, è forse ancora più noto per il brano omonimo di Phil Collins che ne funge da colonna sonora, dal momento che non gli sono riconosciute particolari qualità cinematografiche. Il testo della canzone è assai bello, all'altezza della musica, e pone interrogativi che sono di tutti, e ovviamente anche di me:

       Mi piacque la storia e mi piacque anche Rachel Ward, un'attrice che non ha avuto una carriera all'altezza delle sue qualità. Mi piacque soprattutto il finale, dove va tutto abbastanza male, per i protagonisti, ma dove rimane ancora una possibilità, una possibilità che in futuro, chissà, potrebbe concretizzarsi, anche - per l'appunto - against all odds...

      Ho sempre amato le imprese impossibili. Continuerò a tentarne. La politica è l'arte del possibile; la rivoluzione è l'arte dell'impossibile. E io mi sono sempre considerato un rivoluzionario. Perché cessare proprio ora, solo per ragioni anagrafiche?

      Riparto da zero (io riparto sempre da zero) e rimetto tutto in gioco. Una vita in gioco (due sarebbe forse chiedere troppo, ma io sono ambizioso...).
